From Hewlett-Packard comes a brand of premium business-class notebooks and mobile workstations called HP Elitebook. This line of notebooks is intended to perform under extreme conditions which include vibration, shock, dust, humidity, altitude and temperature. To accomplish the purpose, they are manufactured in such a way that they meet the military MIL-STD-810 standards. Some of the notebooks’ notable features include active hard drive protection, anodized aluminum lid and palm rests, spill-resistant keyboards, magnesium alloy chassis and the dual pointing devices namely the touchpad and the pointing stick.
When it was first introduced in 2008, the HP Elitebook line comprises of the xx30 series. Then they made several changes and added new features and came up with the second generation called the xx40 series. Early this year Hewlett Packard announced the latest generation of the Elitebook line of notebooks which is the xx60 series and so far, every HP EliteBook review that comes out is relatively favorable.
PC Mag noted the all-around computing performance of the 6930p notebook. GottaBeMobile positively received the 2730p Tablet PC but mentioned a few shortcomings with the speakers, buttons and latches. Notebook Review was impressed by the workstation-class 15.4” 8530w mobile notebook while Desktop Engineering considered 8530w a winner in terms of price, performance and portability.
Because of its great appearance, sharpness, and extraordinary performance, Geek.com gave an HP EliteBook review on 8540p to be a great package. IT Reviews on the other hand find the high screen resolution of the 8540p as its biggest attraction while the keyboard is well made and user-friendly at full touch typing speed. IT Reviews also finds 8540p to be big and heavy so they don’t find it portable enough.
The attractive and robust design including the powerful processor and the good range of features of the 8440p impressed the V3.co.uk. But in their HP EliteBook review, the overall appeal of the laptop was affected because of the poor battery life and its 32-bit Windows. AnandTech on the other hand praised the EliteBook 8740w for its DreamColor 2 LCD but they find the built-to-order machines quite expensive.
In an effort to reduce environmental impact, Hewlett-Packard offers the HP EliteBook 8000 series. It features an optional mercury-free LED backlight boosts battery runtime. Its power consumption can be reduced with the help of the ambient light sensor and by using solid state drives instead of the hard disk drives. The magnesium case and the unpainted HP DuraFinish exterior made these notebooks extremely recyclable. And because of the HP disk Sanitizer, they can be donated or reused easily.
The HP EliteBook is very appropriate in a corporate workforce and obviously, a group of dedicated people has something to do with the design of its system. Almost everything that you could possibly need is found in this laptop which makes it very practical to use. EliteBook 8760w, 8560w and 8460w are available at $1,899, $1,349 and $1,299 respectively.
