People exposed to asbestos are at risk of having cancer called Mesothelioma. This type of cancer is very unreceptive and is resilient to many cancer treatments. Sadly, there is no known cure yet for Mesothelioma. However, awareness about the disease can make a great difference on how to avoid or how to deal with it if you already have one. The latency period before Mesothelioma can be diagnosed is 30 to 50 years after exposure. According to Centers for Disease Control in the U.S. there are about 2,500 to 3,000 Mesothelioma cases recorded every year and will increase more by year 2010.
