Nokia Sues Apple – Patent Wars Continue

Nokia, the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, has filed a lawsuit against Steve Job’s Apple. Nokia claims that Apple’s iPad 3G and iPhone faces allegations of infringing five of its technology patents.

According to Nokia, their patented technology used to enhance data and speech transmission and the antenna innovations for compact devices was infringed by Apple.

Paul Melin, Nokia’s general manager of patent licensing, said that they have taken steps to protect Nokia’s pioneering development and to put an end to the unlawful use of their company’s fruits of research. He also stated that they have invested almost $51 billion for research and development in the past twenty years. They have produced almost 11,000 patents.

Apple will not let Nokia dictate the battle because just last year, when Nokia filed a similar lawsuit against them, the iPad and iPhone pioneer filed a countersuit claiming that Nokie infringed Apple’s patents for their smartphones. The battle between Nokia and Apple continues to heat up.
